Curriculum Update

Literacy- In writing, students are writing their teaching books. They are writing a table of contents for their books and are using their fingers to plan each chapter. They are writing each chapter with detail, filling the page, long and strong. For reading, students are again focusing on strategies they can use when they encounter difficult words in their books. They know to never give up and try and try again!

Math-Students are solving word problems with three addends, two of which make ten. They will use the commutative and associative properties to make ten with three addends.

Social Studies- Students are learning that all the Graded Community Helpers are like jigsaw puzzle pieces that fit together to make one grand puzzle whose goal is to support each student in all ways, every day. This week, students are in full swing interviewing various Graded Community Helpers. They are learning a lot about their responsibilities, necessary tools, likes/dislikes, and how they can help the community helper! Starting this week through next week, each first grade classroom will get to visit the lunchroom to learn about all the people, responsibilities and tools that go into making our delicious lunches EVERY single day. We can’t wait!

Portuguese- Os alunos continuam escrevendo narrativas pessoais. Em outros momentos, estão refletindo sobre a língua enquanto leem parlendas e cantigas de roda e fazem atividades de análise linguística.
