Reading 8:00	Good morning girls and boys! We are excited to have you back for another fun day of learning! Please watch the flipgrid video for reading and then read independently for 20 minutes. -Do a flipgrid post to retell the chapter from Frog and Toad Are Friends that Ms. England read in her video. -THEN, after you read independently, please retell one of the books (or one chapter of a book) you read to a parent or older sibling (do NOT record this retelling on flipgrid) Ms. Burnquist Reading When you have finished your assignment click on this choice board and pick an activity to complete until our language arts lesson. No screens allowed!
Language Arts 9:30	Today we will begin with a grammar activity. (Remember to check your feedback from the last grammar lesson: Tuesday, March 24, Grammar Time!) Ms. Burnquist Grammar Then, watch Mr. Ingersoll’s video on using checklists. Make sure you use a checklist with all of your book reviews. After, you will watch a student publish her book review and notice what she does when reading her own published book. Then, you will practice reading your book with the same strategies. We will be publishing this writing tomorrow! (NO responses on flipgrid today for writing). Movement  Break 11:00	T-shirt Fun  You’ll need a big and old T shirt and a hard floor space. -       Start with the T- shirt on the ground – stand out and twist -       Move in relationship to the T-shirt – over, around, next to, in front of.  As you move, use different ways to move, such as: tiptoe, crawl, crab walk, run, skip or jump. -       Put hands on the T-shirt and push it around the space. -       Roll the T-shirt up into a snake, put it on the floor, jump and hop over it and around it. -       Pick up the rolled up T-shirt and swing it over your head like a lasso. Use both hands -       Spread it out and sit on it. Put your hands on the floor and using only your arms; push yourself around the floor. -       Repeat the above challenge while lying on the t-shirt on your tummy -       Practice tossing and catching the T-shirt. -       Toss it up and let it land on your arm, your back, your head and your chest -       If you have a partner you can do this one: one person sits on the shirt and holds on to the end of a rolled-up shirt, while the other person holds on to the other end and pulls his/her partner around the room. (Careful, though! Try not to yank the T-shirt. This could cause a small child to tumble backward quickly.)
Math 12:00	Remember to check your feedback from yesterday’s math lesson. If you have not completed yesterday’s lesson and shown your application problems on Flipgrid, please do that today. Then, watch the flipgrid video and Ms. Eureka to learn all about using simpler math sentences to solve bigger problems. Please only show your exit ticket on your response to flipgrid. Music 1:00	Hello 1st graders! I miss you all! Have fun with the music activity! Music Activity 1  - Percussion Instruments 1)   Watch Olga’s introductory video! Distance Learning 2)   Please watch the following BrainPop Jr. video on musical percussion instruments: https://jr.brainpop.com/artsandtechnology/music/percussioninstruments/ If you have trouble to log in, use the following information from the Graded library Login: graded2 Password: graded 3)   After watching the video, build a homemade music percussion instrument with simple things at home (you can use a can and a wooden spoon to make a drum; or a small container with rice to make a shaker etc.) You can look at the following website for inspiration: https://www.cbc.ca/parents/play/view/activity_musical_instruments. 4)   Save the instrument for next week’s activities. 5)   When you are done, complete the following Google form:  Quick Music Activity Check Please, don't forget to put your name, date and grade level on it.
