Curriculum Update

Literacy-Students are finishing their first readers’ and writers’ units. They are celebrating all their work by sharing published writing pieces and showing off new reading habits and strategies to partners.The next readers’ workshop unit is Learning About the World, reading nonfiction. The next writers’ workshop unit is Nonfiction Chapter books. Please speak to your child about topics in which they are experts. This will help them with writing their expert books.

Math- Students have taken the mid-module assessment. They are being introduced to subtraction. They are solving addition math stories with addition and relating it to subtraction. Students will understand that these are fact families. They will be counting up and down using a number line (or number path) to find an unknown part.

Science- Students can now identify, describe and compare the difference between living and non-living things. They learned about the life cycle of plants and can name the main parts of plants and their functions. Students can also describe plants’ basic survival needs.

                   

Portuguese- Na próxima semana, encerraremos nossos estudos sobre os sons das letras, com foco nas vogais em Português. Em seguida, iniciaremos uma unidade de reflexão linguística a partir de cantigas e parlendas.
